In particular, we use a physically based model for accurate subsurface scattering on the translucent side of directly lit leaves. For real-time rendering of this model, we formulate it as an image convolution process and express the result in an efficient directional basis that is fast to evaluate. We also propose a data acquisition method for leaves that uses off-the-shelf devices.Categories and Subject Descriptors (according to ACM CCS): I.3.3 [Computer Graphics]: Realtime Rendering, Natural Phenomena, Natural Scene Rendering, Physically Based RenderingPhysically Based Real-Time Translucency for Leaves
