The existence of stereocompounds implies different physical properties associated with local and global structural space dissymetry. A left and right hand relationship is a typical local example of such concepts. In this paper, we show how it is possible to include stereochemistry in a comprehensive system allowing for acquisition, storage and retrieval of chemical information. Special emphasis has been placed on the description of the graphic interface on the level of both data acquisition and retrieval. Various graphic coding procedures associated with stereochemical handling are analysed. A specialized input device, optimized for handling of chemical and structural data in bulk, is presented.Graphic Acquisition and Retrieval of Stereochemical Information10.1111/j.1467-8659.1987.tb00559.x309-316
