While the first conference called Eurographics took place in Bologna in 1979, so making Granada the 25th international event of that name, the Eurographics Association was formally incorporated in Switzerland in 1980. Thus, Grenoble has marked the 25th annual event of the Eurographics Association and has triggered a year of celebration until EG'05 in Dublin. Celebrations are important occasions occasions in professional associations life and evolution. They allow members to recognize the benefits and purpose of service and increase the sense of belonging to a community of like-minded people. Celebrations constitute also a good opportunity to promote the value added by associations to the community as a whole and to think about basic values and reflect on the developments in the field and the role the association has had promoting those.
